Guidance Counselor  The Hoffman Academy is accepting applicants for 2015/2016 School Guidance Counselor position. This is a full-time position with benefits. Applicants must have a Pennsylvania Certification in School Counseling. Proper clearances, as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are required. The Hoffman Academy is looking for a counselor to work in a creative and versatile environment geared toward educating and treating at-risk youth. The applicant, filling this role, must be able to work as part of a treatment team (i.e. the student, therapist, direct-care staff, parents, etc.) and assist the student in defining and achieving successful outcomes. The principles of Sanctuary® and Trauma Informed Care are expected to be applied within the daily routines, interactions and interventions of the school day. Overall, members of The Hoffman Academy must exhibit an enthusiasm for educating distressed young people while coaching them toward a safe and productive lifestyle.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify the proper educational program for each child admitted to Hoffman Homes for Youth/The Hoffman Academy.
  • Develop an orientation program for new students and their families.
  • Assist with the administration and scheduling of standardized testing.
  • Organize, interpret and administer interest and achievement testing for students.
  • Provide individual counseling, in coordination with the student's primary therapist.
  • Participate as an active member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Develop a transition program for students approaching discharge as well as those graduating high school.

School Psychologist  The Hoffman Academy is accepting applicants for the 2015/2016 School Psychologist position. This is a full-time position with benefits. Applicants must have Pennsylvania Certification as a School Psychologist. Proper clearances, as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are required.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide individual and group services to students that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct.
  • Select and administer the appropriate instruments and tests for evaluating students.
  • Write reports, which state the findings of the evaluation and provide clear recommendations for educational programming.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team by collaborating with the development and updating of the student's IEP.
  • Consult with all stakeholders within the student's treatment team (i.e. parents, teachers, therapist, nurses, direct-care staff, etc.) regarding the child's overall treatment program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance within the classroom.
  • Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re-evaluate, as appropriate, to determine the extent of progress and the effectiveness of therapy.

Special Education Teachers  The Hoffman Academy is accepting applicants for 2015/2016 Special Education Teacher positions. The Special Education Teacher is a full-time position with benefits. Applicants must have Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education. Proper clearances, as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are required.

The Hoffman Academy is looking for teachers to work in a creative and versatile environment geared toward educating and treating at-risk youth. The goal is to allow teachers the flexibility to deliver curriculum in the most effective manner. Teachers, at the Hoffman Academy, must be able to work as part of a treatment team (i.e. the student, therapist, direct-care staff, parents, etc.) and assist the student in defining and achieving successful outcomes. Teachers are encouraged to use the support of the therapists and direct-care staff. The principles of Sanctuary® and Trauma Informed Care are expected to be applied within the daily routines, interactions and interventions of the school day. Overall, teachers for the Hoffman Academy must exhibit an enthusiasm for educating distressed young people while coaching them toward a safe and productive lifestyle.

Nurses  The Medical Services Department is accepting applicants for RN and LPN positions. The schedule is 4 days on/ 4 days off. Hoffman Homes for Youth will give you the opportunity to work with an at-risk population (ages 6 - 18 years of age). Basic nursing duties are performed. Nurses are expected to tend to ill/injured clients and complete medication administration. Nurses work closely with the physicians and psychiatrists to coordinate proper treatment for the children in care. Hoffman Homes provides the opportunity for you to build a long-term relationship with the clients. You will play a large roll in helping the clients reach their goals and return to the community.

Applicants, for the 1st and 2nd shift positions, must be a Registered Nurse, licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners. Licensed Practical Nurses will be considered for 3rd shift positions. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license and have basic computer skills. Pennsylvania Childline, Criminal, and FBI clearances will be processed. Orientation and training will be provided.

Mental Health Worker  - 4 days on/4 days off-Work directly in the residences with the children. $12.80/hr. and benefit package. $12.90/hr. after 6 months; $13.00/hr. after one year. Orientation program and ongoing training/supervision provided. All applicants need to be 21 years of age or older.


Mental Health Aides   - 4 days on/4 days off-Monitor children during sleeping hours and assist Mental Health Workers with evening routines. $11.25/hr. and benefit package. $11.37/hr. after 6 months; $11.50/hr. after one year. Orientation program and ongoing training/supervision provided. All applicants need to be 21 years of age or older.
