Annual Appeal Endowment Fund Unrestricted Gift Tribute/Memorial Holiday Gift Program

Annual Appeal /Warming the Heart
The Golf Tournament, Garden Tour, Autumn Gala, and the Annual Appeal are Hoffman Homes for Youth's fundraising efforts to provide necessary support to the operating budget. Gifts to these solicitations ensure up to date, cheerful and safe residences for our children. Each of these fundraising events defray the cost of needed renovations to the school building, residences and recreation spaces. They are vital to sustain an adequate environment for healing and learning. This year donations given towards the Golf Tournament, Garden Tour, Autumn Gala, and the Annual Appeal are being directed to the “Warming the Heart” appeal.

The staff have initiated a “Warming the Heart” appeal to help defray the costs of replacing the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system in the Myers Building. The current HVAC system has been inefficient for a number of years. Often the children are moved out of classrooms in the winter because the rooms are too cold. This past summer when the heat index outside was over 100 degrees, classroom temperatures reached over 80 degrees because the air conditioning system was malfunctioning. The cost to replace the system is estimated at $1.2 million. Gifts received through December, 2008 will be designated to “Warming the Heart.”

Endowment
Endowment funds provide additional income to supplement the annual operating budget and provide for needed growth. Gifts to the endowment fund enable Hoffman Homes for Youth to anticipate a stable financial future.

Gift Planning
Planned or deferred gifts help donors enhance their tax planning, investment objectives and retirement needs while insuring the future of Hoffman Homes for Youth. Many choose to do this with a charitable bequest in their will. Tributes
Gifts in honor of a loved one are a special way to remember family and friends. These gifts are deeply appreciated by Hoffman Homes for Youth and a heartfelt acknowledgment (and our prayers) are sent to friends and family members.

Gifts in Kind
Hoffman Homes for Youth gratefully accepts gifts of school supplies, food, art supplies and equipment for our children. We are especially grateful that our holiday gift program is supported by so many churches and organizations. Please call the development office to arrange for delivery and acceptance of these wonderful contributions.

Gifts of Time
The Friends of Hoffman Homes (formerly the Hoffman Auxiliary) have been supporting the mission of Hoffman Homes for Youth since 1914. Their annual Family Day and Bazaar is a popular and successful fund-raiser enjoyed by children and staff alike. To join the Friends or volunteer for Family Day, please see your local United Church of Christ Friends Representative or call the development office for an application.
