Registered Nurse — The Medical Services Department is currently accepting applications for a Registered Nurse position. The RNs work closely with the physicians, dentist, and psychiatrists to coordinate proper treatment of the children in care. At Hoffman Homes for Youth, our nurses work a 4-day on/ 4-day off work shift. Nurses are scheduled between 30-40 hours per week, but receive full salary when scheduled for a 30 hour week.

 

Our nurses provide basic medical care to the children; primary duties include medication administration, assessments and documentation. Hoffman Homes will provides a supportive team environment...Our nurse will get to know a majority of our 200 employees on staff, and, as well,  build strong relationships with the children we serve.


Requirements

Qualified applicants be a registered nurse and licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have basic computer skills. The following clearances will be processed: PA Child Abuse History; PA Criminal Record; FBI Fingerprint Clearance through the Department of Education; and Department of Human Services. Orientation and training will be provided.

Custodian  --  The department of Safety & Facilities Management is currently accepting applicants for the position of Custodian. This position is responsible for the cleanliness of the Myers Building, Chapel and Administration Building, in addition to the Helb Residence, which accommodates visiting families. Overall, this position is expected to respond to areas needing custodial attention, ensuring that cleaning supplies are in stock and available as needed, to support our children in care and the staff of Hoffman Homes for Youth.


Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or a GED, and a valid driver's license.  Professional cleaning experience is a plus.

Child and Family Therapist  --  Hoffman Homes is seeking applicants to fill anticipated openings. Child and Family Therapists provide individual, group, and family therapy for the children in care. They are responsible for assuming leadership of the treatment teams, providing clinical consultation to the direct-service staff, developing treatment plans, running treatment team meetings, and maintaining daily documentation. Applicants will be evaluated on clinical skills, leadership and teamwork capacities, as well as experience. The position requires a masters degree in social work, counseling or a related field. Teacher's Aides   The Hoffman Academy is seeking applicants to fill the role of Teacher's Aide within the Hoffman Academy.  This position assists the teacher during the day-to-day classroom routine. The goal of this position is to help the classroom operate in an organized, efficient and safe manner.  Assistance, with the supervision of the students, is top priority. Additional duties include the maintenance of student records and the implementation of behavior management programs.

Special Education Teachers  -- The Hoffman Academy is accepting applicants for anticipated Special Education Teacher positions. The Special Education Teacher is a full-time position with benefits. Applicants must have Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education. Proper clearances, as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, are required.

The Hoffman Academy is looking for teachers to work in a creative and versatile environment geared toward educating and treating at-risk youth. The goal is to allow teachers the flexibility to deliver curriculum in the most effective manner. Nurses  -- The Medical Services Department is accepting applicants for the 4/4 RN. The schedule is 4 days on/4 days off. Hoffman Homes for Youth will give you the opportunity to work with an at-risk population (ages 6 - 18 years of age). Basic nursing duties are performed. Nurses are expected to tend to ill/injured clients and complete medication administration. Nurses work closely with the physicians and psychiatrists to coordinate proper treatment for the children in care. Hoffman Homes provides the opportunity for you to build a long-term relationship with the clients. You will play a large roll in helping the clients reach their goals and return to the community.

Applicants, for the 1st and 2nd shift positions, must be a Registered Nurse, licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners. Mental Health Worker  -- The Mental Health Worker (MHW) is a direct-care/counselor position to children. MHWs supervise the children in care and are responsible for their safety. Throughout the day, MHWs guide the children through their daily routines and activities while documenting events and observations specific to each child. The MHW is expected to teach and model appropriate social skills and coping skills to the children. MHWs must provide support for children who may be experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression or struggling with anger management. The MHW is responsible for communicating pertinent information to the child's therapist so that treatment can be properly assessed. MHWs are asked to apply concepts of Hope, Welcoming, Sanctuary, and Recovery while being committed to promoting an atmosphere of Non-Violence, Emotional Intelligence, Social Learning, Open Communication, Social Responsibility, Democracy, Growth and Change.

Appropriate applicants must have a strong desire to help an at-risk group of children. This position requires the ability to stay active, make good decisions within a busy environment and maintain a calm demeanor while working with an emotional child. Additionally, this position requires strong ethics and accountability. Must be able to complete clear and legible documentation.

Full-Time MHWs are scheduled 4 days on (40 hours total)/4 days off. The first shift consists of 2 days 6:30 AM -  2:30 PM and 2 days 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM.  The 2nd shift consists of 3 days working 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM and 1 day working 6:30 AM -10:30 PM during the 4 days on shift. 

Part-Time MHW positions are less than 30 hours per week and have flexible hours.

$12.80/hour to start; $12.90/hour after 6 months; $13.00/hour after 1 year.

Mental Health Aides  -- The Mental Health Aide (MHA) is a 3rd shift position. The majority of the MHA shift consists of supervising the children while they sleep.  This requires the MHA to walk in and out of dorm rooms throughout the night.  Sleep patterns and safety checks are documented.  During the few hours, when the children are awake, the MHA assists with monitoring the children throughout the evening routine.

Requirements
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Education, within the mental health field and/or experience working with children, is desired. Appropriate applicants must have a strong desire to help an at-risk group of children. Part-Time MHW positions are less than 30 hours per week and have flexible hours.

$11.25/hour to start; $11.37/hour after 6 months; $11.50/hour after 1 year.
